Sick and tired of not being able to scrape enough together to keep your car insured? You have the same problem as many other consumers.

Insurance companies such as GEICO and Progressive increase brand awareness with TV and radio ads and it is difficult to ignore the promise of big savings and effectively compare rates to find the best deal.

The method we recommend to compare insurance rates in your area is to know almost all companies pay for the opportunity to give you rate quotes. All you need to do is provide the companies a bit of rating information such as the make and model of your vehicles, deductibles desired, what your job is, and your credit rating estimate. Those rating factors is instantly provided to multiple different insurance companies and you receive quotes within a short period of time.

Tailor your auto insurance coverage to you

When choosing adequate coverage for your vehicles, there really is no cookie cutter policy. Everyone’s situation is unique so this has to be addressed. These are some specific questions may help you determine if your insurance needs might need an agent’s assistance.

  • Does my insurance cover damage caused when ticketed for reckless driving?
  • Should I have combined single limit or split liability limits?
  • Will filing a claim cost me more?
  • Should I rate my 2023 Nissan Armada as pleasure use or commute?
  • Am I covered by my spouse’s policy after a separation?
  • Should I get collision insurance on every vehicle?
  • Is pleasure use cheaper than using my 2023 Nissan Armada to commute?
  • Am I missing any policy discounts?
  • Am I covered if I crash into my own garage door?
  • When does my teenage driver need to be added to my policy?

If you can’t answer these questions but a few of them apply, you might consider talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, take a second and enter your zip code.

Coverages available on your insurance policy

Knowing the specifics of your policy can help you determine appropriate coverage and the correct deductibles and limits. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and reading a policy is terribly boring. These are the usual coverages found on the average insurance policy.

Uninsured or underinsured coverage – Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage gives you protection from other motorists when they either have no liability insurance or not enough. It can pay for injuries to you and your family and damage to your Nissan Armada.

Due to the fact that many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. So UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Usually your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.

Medical expense coverage – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP kick in for immediate expenses for things like nursing services, doctor visits, chiropractic care and funeral costs. They are utilized in addition to your health insurance plan or if there is no health insurance coverage. They cover not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants in addition to any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP is not an option in every state but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage

Collision coverage – Collision coverage covers damage to your Armada caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.

Collision can pay for things like hitting a parking meter, hitting a mailbox, sideswiping another vehicle, damaging your car on a curb and crashing into a ditch. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider removing coverage from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Drivers also have the option to choose a higher deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.

Liability auto insurance – Liability coverage provides protection from injuries or damage you cause to other people or property. This coverage protects you from claims by other people. It does not cover your injuries or vehicle damage.

Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see limits of 100/300/100 that means you have a $100,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $300,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Some companies may use one number which is a combined single limit which limits claims to one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.

Liability can pay for things such as repair costs for stationary objects, medical expenses, structural damage, attorney fees and repair bills for other people’s vehicles. How much liability coverage do you need? That is up to you, but you should buy as large an amount as possible.

Comprehensive protection – Comprehensive insurance pays for damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first must pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.

Comprehensive can pay for claims such as falling objects, a tree branch falling on your vehicle, hitting a deer, vandalism and theft. The maximum amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
